My hen has chicks!
My Austrolorpe/Rhode Island Red chicken hen, Nora, has successfully hatched out 4 little chicks! Two of the eggs where layed by Nora, while two where layed by our Golden Comets. The chicks are named;
Pippi-the second chick to hatch, Pippi is all very light, but with a darker head.
Cleo-the first chick to hatch, Cleo is very independent and fiesty, and is all light colored
Bumble Bee-named for the stripes down her back, Bumble was the third to hatch, and will probably end up mostly brown.
Otter-Otter is the most dazzling in coloration, mostly a dark, shiny black with a green sheen, Otter also has a white belly, and then is speckled light fawn/brown throughout her feathers.
All of the chicks are very sweet, and very very tame. I'll post pictures once I get some!

No! Don't get a snake...don't you here all those horror stories about people getting eaten by their beloved constricters? Tarantulas, on the other hand...go with a tarantula!
Re: My hen has chicks!

Re: My hen has chicks!
I used to have a boxer, Princess, who had to be put down to sleep, my sister's fish died and my brother's fish died. My brothers, sisters, and my hermit crab died, my brothers lizard died, be4 I was born my mom and dad owned a cat and a dog, and we had like about 100 fish in this big tank, but eventually they all died somehow, oh, and 2 shrimp with the 100 fish. So yeah big history, lol
Re: My hen has chicks!
My grandparents owned a farm, not sure if they still do old age makes it harder, and they owned geese, chickens, ducks and that kind of stuff...I still remember when I had a fear of baby chicks.I wouldn't even hold any of them. But that sure changed by the time I left. They're really fast growers. We were only there for two weeks and the chicks went from cute and fluffy to starting to grow feathers.

Yeah...ours are 5 weeks old and nearly fully feathered, but they're so sweet <3 My family has a hobby farm...ducks, chickens, dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, fish, tarantula...I probably missed something...

Baby chicks are cute but when they get older they freak me out,but even still I love feeding them.

Aren't tarantulas spiders just bigger and more colorful?

Re: My hen has chicks!
Not always more colorful...and they are a specific sort of spider...one that contains species that are big enough to kill and eat birds, frogs, and mice
Re: My hen has chicks!
How many eyes do spiders have?
I remember googling "wolf" tocheck their anatomy and a wolf spider came up.It had around 5 eyes.

Re: My hen has chicks!
Spiders have evolved with more parts than neccessary so that they are less likley to be killed off for losing a limb or two. -nerd face-
Re: My hen has chicks!
But isn't too many just too much? Like eight eyes just makes the world look funny.
